Day 13 on the road.
Well – after being on phone calls all day, we finally found someone to look at the truck. The check engine light was finally figured out to be tied to the Def system of the Diesel truck and got that taken care of.
Truck brakes are checking ok now – but they burned a bit on the mountains. Trailer brakes are not good and will have to be replaced.
At this point, with the problems with the meds, the wild fires in Canada, reports of flooding in Alaska and the problems with the truck and trailer, we’ve decided to turn our trip to the East and try to regroup and decide how to proceed. Everything for a reason. The signs are very clear — we were not to be able to go to Alaska at this time.
With the added stress of everything going on it’s going to take a tole on Dave’s health, so we decided to visit Devils Tower and Mount Rushmore and then proceed home to figure out next steps.
So we’re going to be rolling East! Changing plans mid stride, but keep rolling! Disappointed that we apparently can’t go right now, but won’t keep us from going sometime! We will take a look at things over the next few weeks/months and find a better time to go after Dave’s meds are FDA approved later this year (fingers crossed) and when the wildfires won’t be playing havoc with our travel plans.
