Well, today is Sunday, May 14th (Happy Mother’s Day). We were supposed to be west of St. Louis last night/this morning but with all the stuff we still needed done we delayed our start to today — and now to tomorrow. Disappointing to say the least – but still head out Monday morning.
Dave and I have both have camped our entire lives. We know pretty much most of the ins and outs of traveling. However, when you are planning a trip that is this long and this many miles from home and with a rare autoimmune disease and not having your health-care team in close proximity — there’s a lot more to do in preparation than we anticipated. So today we need to finish getting some stuff packed away in the trailer and hope to be on the road early tomorrow morning.
The one thing about our trip is that we’re really not on any schedule. Living life one minute at a time! The only solid thing on our schedule is Denali reservations for the week of June 19th. We knew this trip would take us time due to the distance we’re traveling, Dave’s medical needs, and the unknown things that always pop up when you travel. So, no reservations, we plan on boondocking most of the time with the occasional National Park campground thrown in as needed/wanted.
