Day 6 on the road.

Today was an easy-going day per se.  We decided to cut our drive to Grand Teton’s National Park in 2 drive segments. First would be from the Boulder County Fairgrounds where we were staying to the Walmart in Riverton, WY.  We called ahead and received approval from the Sr. Manger there to overnight that evening.  However, we got a later start than we had wanted to so we didn’t get to Walmart until about 9:30 PM Mountain Time.  Long, long day.  Got to see lots of beautiful landscapes but didn’t have nor take time to stop and get photos of them.

We did see several small herds of Antilope as we drove.  Was awesome to see them just like you would cows or horses.

The one thing that we saw that broke our hearts was the “fog” effect on the mountains.  We both thought it was similar to the Smokey Mountains having that smoke or fog effect.  We did learn that was not the case. It was actual smoke from the wildfires in Canada.  We spoke to several other travelers that had seen the smoke in Oregon and Idaho and have had reports that it has added a haze to Michigan and Ohio sky’s as well.

We are going to be keeping an eye on the wildfire situation – Abby and Jason, YouTubers that we follow @RVMiles (www.rvmiles.com) also reported on the wildfires and are also traveling to Alaska. Unfortunately, the road we planned on taking which is one of the main roads for all RVers to take, has been closed due to the fires in the area.  We’ll be keep a sharp eye on that condition and will update as we can.

Well with all the running I’m very tired so off to do some work and then to bed.  Tomorrow’s drive is only about 3 hours so I’m looking very forward to a small break!
